Merck World of Life Science
More than 300,000 products. We built a showroom that gives every visitor a clear way in.
300,000 products. One place to start.
A portfolio of this scale is not a catalogue problem. It is a navigation problem. From tiny lipids to 3,000-litre mixers, Merck Life Science spans an industrial universe. The task was not to display all of it. It was to help customers, employees and students understand where to begin — and why the products matter.
The World of Life Science in Darmstadt
One showroom. Three ways in.
Visitors choose the question they care about: greener processes, digital transformation or faster drug discovery. MIC, a customisable companion designed in Merck’s visual language, carries that choice through the room.

The guide opens the route. The room tells the story.
Product walls, physical objects, AR and large-scale media move visitors from overview to detail. The technology does not belong to one exhibit. It connects the entire experience.
The product wall
Protein production, with consequences.
At the Mobius 3L bioreactor, visitors do not read a process diagram. They run it. An AR game turns protein production into a sequence of decisions — and the wrong button can cook the proteins.
Step inside the science.
In the 3D space, stereoscopic worlds turn sustainability and digitalisation from themes into places. Visitors move beyond individual products and enter the systems behind them.
Built to keep moving.
More than 4,000 people visited in the first year. Exhibits continue to grow into web and sales applications. The showroom works as a communication system — not as a static display.
