Sustainability, staged live.

At K 2019, Covestro gave its trade-fair stage to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The easy route would have been a film. We built a live augmented-reality show instead: a moderator on stage, an iPad as the camera, and a set of physical cubes that — the moment the camera found one — triggered the matching story in real time on a big screen. Abstract commitments turned into something the room could watch unfold.

The real brief was attention.

Sustainability proof points are easy to nod along to and just as easy to forget. As a conventional film, the same content would have flattened — passive, predictable, gone by the next hall. So we treated it as theatre: live, present, a little at risk, and therefore worth watching. We owned the whole spine — story, script, storyboard, rehearsal, camera angles, show safety — and led Covestro into an unfamiliar format with enough confidence to fill the stand, show after show.

Three goals you could see.

We picked three Covestro projects and turned each into a short, precise 3D story:

  • Zero Hunger — acrylic covers that dry harvested crops like chilies and fruit, cutting post-harvest loss.
  • Climate Action — a chlorine process that runs on two volts instead of three: a third less energy, on a process that alone accounts for around one percent of Germany's electricity.
  • Decent Work & Economic Growth — an internal start-up prize that carries the SDG mindset inside the company.

One iPad ran the whole show.

Off-the-shelf AR is built for one person with a phone. We needed a shared, staged experience — so we built the collaborative setup ourselves, the kind you normally only find in a broadcast studio, out of an iPad camera and a big screen. Object recognition did the rest: each cube stood for one goal, and when the camera found it, the right animation played live. In its lean form the entire show runs from a single iPad, with one operator handling camera and cues next to the moderator. Broadcast-grade, without the outside-broadcast truck.

The numbers.

  • ADC BronzeDigital Experiences — Interactive Storytelling
  • ⅓ lessenergy in Covestro's chlorine process (2 V instead of 3)
  • 1 iPadran the entire live show

Not spectacle. A system.

We don't sell AR spectacle. We build controlled live communication systems that make complex corporate impact legible, memorable and efficient — and light enough to travel. The technology gets out of the way; the story does the work.
