A world premiere
on an iPhone

A world premiere that ran on millions of euros of broadcast gear — rebuilt as an AR app that lets any journalist stage the same invisible tech with just an iPhone and a Taycan.

A broadcast studio, folded into an iPhone.

The Porsche Taycan World Premiere was a one-night spectacle — camera crane, live regie, a wall of LED. Brilliant content, gone by morning. We gave it a second life as an AR app: on a test drive, a journalist places a virtual Taycan at the kerb, opens up its invisible tech and films the report straight from the screen. The million-euro show now travels in a jacket pocket.

Broadcast precision, on a stock iPhone.

Everything that made the premiere look expensive — locked-on tracking, title graphics, clean chapter cuts — now runs on a current iPhone (an iPhone 12 and up). Journalists record polished AR sequences with intros and overlays, or strip the overlays away for raw footage to drop into their own edit. It is the kind of precision you normally only get from a TV production, without the outside-broadcast truck.

Opening the app: a virtual Taycan, placed anywhere in the real world

The hardest thing to track is a shiny car.

A Taycan's bodywork is a mirror — it picks up every light in the room, and off-the-shelf AR (Apple's ARKit, Vuforia and the rest) loses its grip on a surface like that. So we made the car track itself. We fused VisionLib, an industrial object-tracking library, with Apple's ARKit: VisionLib recognises the vehicle, then hands off to ARKit for spatial tracking. Nerd fact — to hold a steady 60 fps we moved the object tracking onto its own thread. As far as we know, nobody had combined the two like this at that level.

Inside the invisible: drivetrain, battery and aerodynamics, opened up in AR

Built to travel.

A show that once needed a broadcast truck now fits in hand luggage. Journalist kits went out internationally, and the clips they filmed reached millions of views across their own channels.

Communicate more. Build less.

The premiere proved the story. The app proved it could scale. Instead of rebuilding an expensive stage in every market, Porsche hands a journalist a phone that carries the whole show — and every report they film carries it further. Less freight, less rebuild, more reach.
